Yesterday evening, Margaret Qualley became the first celebrity to test drive Matthieu Blazy’s most divisive Chanel slipper. First spotted in Biarritz during the brand’s cruise 2026 show, the Belgian designer introduced toe-less sandals, which were basically just a heel. The fact that they barely serve a purpose only made the internet more obsessed with them.

To make it even better, Qualley wore the shoes to the London premiere of The Dog Stars, getting her own dogs out to mark the occasion (now that’s method dressing). The sandals are the latest chapter in fashion’s current fascination with freaky footwear – see also Vibram’s FiveFingers, Loewe’s PVC boots or Saint Laurent’s recent see-through shoes.

The shoe will be available from September 2 in white and green colourways.
