Rihanna, Charli xcx, Jisoo, Ethel Cain, Ariana Grande, Charlize Theron, Greta Lee, Jennifer Lawrence, Lily Allen, Mia Goth, Mikey Madison, Rosalía, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Taylor Russell and Deva Cassel are all among the celebrities who have recently been spotted carrying the Dior Cigale handbag. Safe to say, it’s the bag of the moment – if not the entire year.

The new style made its debut back in February, during Jonathan Anderson’s SS26 show at Paris Fashion Week. It takes its name and shape from the famous La Cigale gown, as created by Christian Dior for the AW52/53 haute couture collection. It’s a dress that Anderson describes as: “my all-time favourite dress in the history of fashion”. No wonder he used it as the blueprint for the handbag.

As modelled by photographer and Hugan Books founder, Simjae, the brand has revealed its new mineral dyed cotton gabardine, inspired by the uneven and chalky aesthetic of a sand storm and given a dusted, powdery look. Marc Jacobs has launched a short film, The Swap, starring Rowan Blanchard, Jemima Kirke and Jeremy O Harris. The micro-drama takes place immediately after last season’s runway show, and follows Blanchard and Kirke as they accidentally swap bags – which are both versions of Jacobs’ ‘Scene bag’. Watch here.
