It won’t be news to you by now that Paris was going through something of a heatwave – and that’s putting it mildly – during men’s fashion week. Temperatures surpassed 35°C, forcing the official schedule to undergo a reshuffle. Jonathan Anderson moved his Dior show to 9am, saving his “dishevelled aristocrat” muses from the sweltering conditions. Over at Rick Owens, models were shielded from the worst of the heat thanks to both an earlier time slot and inflated separates with built-in AC units.

The messaging was crystal clear this season: no trousers, no problem. At Saint Laurent, the catwalk was awash with suave, suited men who’d ditched their trousers. Check shirts, flowing lightweight coats and loose tailoring, meanwhile, defined the mood at Dries Van Noten. Willy Chavarria also caught wind of the brief, proving that leather boots, silk boxers and boxy jackets are timeless.

Off the runway, though, the stuffy air wasn’t enough to prevent PFW showgoers from serving looks. And, as the age-old adage goes, less is more. Street style was in survival mode throughout SS27, with bare midriffs, hitched-up shorts, and free feet all on display. Ironic hand-held fans and a turd short set (seriously) kept things upbeat, while clashing colours mirrored the week’s colour-drenched catwalks.
