There are parties, and then there are New York parties. At the latter, you know that the start time is a suggestion, making new friends is inevitable and the function will likely spill into the wee morning. That was certainly true last Thursday, August 13, at Dazed’s summer party at Asia Roma restaurant in New York’s Chinatown. 

Throughout the night, over 200 guests, including the Dazed US team, contributors and friends of the magazine, filtered throughout the space, taking full advantage of the karaoke setup, dance floor and wooden booths designed perfectly for mid-party debriefs. Between the flow of partygoers and Asia Roma’s dimmed red lights, the space became something between a whirlpool and a time warp, making it easy to blink and realise you’d spent hours inside the dive bar-esque spot. As we all know, it‘s been a non-stop summer in New York, and the energy at Thursday’s event seemed to indicate that, though the season is coming to a close, the city isn’t ready to go inside any time soon.

Here’s what went down.

SINGING? DANCING? BOTH

The best parties allow you to choose your own adventure, and that’s exactly what Asia Roma provided as a venue. On the two-story restaurant’s top floor, guests sang karaoke and made pit stops for conversation against the long wooden bar. Down below in the basement, the makeshift dance floor stayed active. Of course, as the night went on, the party spilled into the street, too, as goodbyes turned into extended chats.

THERE WERE MAGS GALORE

What could be a better party favour than a fresh mag? Throughout the venue, copies of Dazed’s Summer 2026 issue were scattered about, giving party-goers a chance to finally get their hands on the Myha’la, Olivia Rodrigo and Ilia Malinin covers.

DAZED STAYED ON THE DECK

The party was a true family affair, with Dazed team members (and talented DJs) Jordan Stanton and Percy Cobbinah hopping on the deck. Other DJs of the night included Michael Lieberman and Maxwell Vice, who performed the opening and closing sets. 

AS ALWAYS, THE NEW YORK COMMUNITY SHOWED OUT

You can always count on Dazed readers to pull up in style. While there were familiar faces in the room, such as New York-based designer The Twink Next Door and TikTok creator Angel, there were plenty of new ones too, and we counted a fair share of new friendships spawned from the night.
